Connecticut Expands Paid Sick Leave: New Law Covers More Workers
Changes to Connecticut Paid Family Leave
Governor Ned Lamont signed legislation expanding Connecticut’s paid sick leave law to cover more workers. The law, which previously applied to employers with 50+ employees in specific sectors, will now include nearly all occupations starting January 1, 2025. The requirements will be phased in over three years: employers with 25+ employees in 2025, 11+ employees in 2026, and all employers by 2027. The legislation also broadens the definition of family members and reasons for taking leave. This expansion aims to provide better health and financial security for workers.
